When dining out, choosing the right wine that everyone in the table will love and that will go with everyone’s food is difficult. Here are some ways to compensate the pressure.
Compare and contrast. Order two comparatively inexpensive wines, especially if there are more than four people in the table. Have the wines served at the same time and encourage everyone to try both with the different dishes they have ordered.
Ask. Have the courage to ask which wine on the list is the chef’s top pick. By and large, his or her taste pairs instinctively with several dishes on the menu.
Leave the decision to the restaurant’s wine connoisseur or to an expert sommelier. This will give you more knowledge about new wines. Explain the kind of wine you'd like in a specific price range.
Expand the collection of wines you know by trying new ones. When you're dining out, order something you haven’t tried yet. Then add this on your ‘wine list’ if it really tastes good. You'll look impressively knowledgeable when you order the same bottle at the next meal you’re about to host.
