It’s not everyday you come across a videoke party along Katipunan Avenue. So when iSing TOO hit the road last May 7, at Mag:net Café, it was no wonder the place was packed. Sponsored by UP Sigma Delta Phi Sorority, iSING TOO was a continuation of the sorority’s culminating activity for its previously held 74th Anniversary, iSing: A Videoke Slam Competition. This time, however, people were just in it for fun and not for the prizes.
The concept was simple, but ingenious. The patio of the Mag:net had a beach ambiance, with a little palm plant and a mini pool with shells in it, as center piece. The upper deck of the place was used for the actual videoke set-up, with lyrics projected on a white screen. People took turns singing songs and performing in front. Some sang in groups, while others preferred to go solo.
The café has always catered to alternative forms of activities, like showing independent films. This particular event was a very good tie-up with Sigma Delta Phi, with their original concept of a summer party. Hence, just when you think this season can only be spent chilling in beaches or going to high altitude places, you can actually find alternative ways to celebrate the summer heat by recreating your very own summer escape.
